OSI Industries has realigned its organizational structure in order to upgrade quality assurance efforts within the company. All operations will fall under one umbrella of management to ensure that standards are met on an international scale. OSI Industries received the Globe of Honor award in 2016 from the British Safety Council. This piece of recognition is a reflection of the efforts that are being made by the company to ensure that they are conducting safe business in every aspect of the organization.
OSI Industries is a privately owned company that began as a family business. It was the dream of Otto Kolschowsky. Otto was a German immigrant who came to America in the early 1900’s and set up shop in Chicago, Illinois. He gained a reputation for being an efficient meat supplier to many different types of food industry businesses within the area. By the 1950’s his sons had taking over the business. Otto and Sons was recruited by McDonald’s CEO Ray Kroc to be his meat supplier in the Illinois area. At this time Otto and Sons was one of hundreds of contractors working with the McDonald’s organization.
Overtime Otto and Sons would introduce business practices and that set them apart from other suppliers. The meat patty cutting machine catered to the needs of their most important client. Eventually Otto and Sons became McDonald’s primary supplier of meat.
The company later became OSI Industries. OSI Industries has a worldwide influence. It is one of the largest food suppliers in the business. They have several high-profile clients including Pizza Hut, Papa John’s Pizza, Starbucks and Subway. Their operations have spread throughout the United States as well as China and Europe.
OSI Industries acquired Tyson Foods. This was an effort to save the hundreds of jobs that would have been lost if Tyson Foods closed its doors. The company was purchased for 7.4 million dollars. Many of the Tyson Food employees were offered positions with OSI Industries.
OSI Industries hiring practices also show the company’s dedication to creating jobs throughout the world. It has recruiting bases in several different countries and is committed to developing a diverse workforce. The ideas of young business minds will help OSI Industries continue to stay on the cutting edge of the food manufacturing industry.
